En el ámbito de las reparaciones de una embarcación, podemos encontrarnos con distintos problemas que no son fáciles de detectar. Entre ellas, las fugas de un flotador, que pueden producirse por el tratamiento que se le ha dado a la embarcación, o simplemente por el desgaste que este haya tenido.

En este post, trataremos cómo será el proceso para detectar una fuga y cómo podremos ponerle solución si nos encontramos ante este caso.

1. DETECCIÓN DE UNA FUGA

Antes de todo, debemos conocer cuál es la zona afectada para así saber en qué parte debemos centrarnos primero. Para poder detectar alguna fuga o pinchazo de nuestro flotador es tan fácil como preparar una mezcla de agua y jabón. Una vez tenemos esta mezcla, debemos aplicarla en la posible zona afectada, detectando la pérdida de aire a través de las burbujas que se van produciendo. Cuando se ha detectado la zona, se marca con un lápiz de cera para proceder a su reparación.

Un paso importante que tenemos que dejar claro es cuándo utilizar un parche interno o externo. Si el daño del flotador es menor a 2 cm solo se necesitaría un parche en la parte exterior del flotador. Si es mayor, se necesitaría dos parches, uno en la parte interior y otro en la parte exterior.

2. REPARACIÓN DE FUGA SIN PARCHE INTERIOR

Este proceso de reparación es muy sencillo. Una vez que se ha detectado la fuga o el pinchazo, se debe deshinchar el flotador para poder trabajar con mayor facilidad. Posteriormente, cortaremos un parche de unos 2 ó 3 cm mayor que el daño que necesitamos reparar.

Debemos tener claro que el parche que vayamos a utilizar tiene que ser acorde al material de nuestra embarcación. Una vez que esté todo preparado, se procede a pegar el parche en la zona exterior del flotador. Pueden utilizarse los pegamentos Nauticol acordes al tejido de la embarcación.

3. REPARACIÓN DE FUGA CON PARCHE INTERIOR

En este caso, el proceso de reparación es muy parecido al que se ha descrito anteriormente. La única diferente entre ellos es en el procedimiento del pegado del parche. Para ello, se debe cortar un parche de 2 o 3 cm mayor que el daño existente en el flotador y primero se pega por la parte interior del flotador. Luego, se corta otro parche de la misma medida que el anterior y se procede al pegado de este en la parte exterior del mismo. Se hace especial hincapié de que el parche debe ser del mismo tejido que el del flotador.

4. RECOMENDACIONES

Para estos casos, se recomienda esperar entre 16 y 24 horas para volver a hinchar el flotador. Y 72 horas desde el procedimiento del pegado, para poner el barco en servicio. Así nos aseguraremos de que la cola está perfectamente seca y no sufra el riesgo de que se despegue ninguno de los parches que hayamos utilizado.
