Para la correcta limpieza de un flotador, debemos disponer de cuatro elementos básicos: agua dulce, limpiador para tejido, un paño suave y un poco de paciencia.

Otros elementos, que parecen más rápidos y efectivos, pueden llegar a ser muy perjudiciales. Entre estos se encuentran  la manguera de agua a presión, los estropajos duros o metálicos y los disolventes (Acetona, Mek, Tolueno, Disolvente universal, etc.), que pueden dañar seriamente el tejido al dejarlo desprotegido frente a los rayos UV y agentes externos.

El proceso básico pasa, primero, por eliminar las manchas más agresivas de suciedad que se encuentren en el flotador o en el casco. Estas han podido surgir por diferentes motivos como piedras, arena, barro, ramas, grasa, manchas de los rodillos y, en general, todos los sedimentos que puedan estar enganchados.  

El siguiente paso consiste en mojar con agua dulce la embarcación para ablandar la suciedad y quitar restos de sal o salitre. Para ello, podemos ayudarnos con un cepillo de celda suave, que no debe ser abrasivo y NUNCA metálico. A medida que vayamos eliminando la suciedad, podemos ir aclarando con agua limpia.

Si la parte del flotador que toca el agua o el fondo de nuestra neumática es textil y tiene caracolillos, debemos aplicar productos específicos para esta descontaminación e incluso algún líquido anti-cal, dejando actuar unos cuantos minutos antes de frotar con el cepillo.

¿QUÉ PRODUCTOS UTILIZAR?

Además de contar con el producto natural por excelencia (el agua dulce) podemos encontrar una gran variedad  de productos de limpieza específicos para flotadores de neumáticas, Zodiac, Rib, Cobra y semirrígidas. Debemos utilizar el producto específico; si es para la limpieza general de tejido en PVC o Hypalón/Neopreno, si es para la tapicería de asiento, si es para toldo bimini, si es para el casco, si es para hidrocarburos o barro e incluso si es para quitar los hongos del flotador.

Una vez bien limpia y convenientemente seca, es recomendable aplicar algún producto para nutrir, abrillantar  y darle un estado nuevo a los flotadores de las embarcaciones. Eso sí, sin excesos de cantidad para no dejar una superficie resbaladiza o dejar muchos restos de producto que, con la acción del sol, pueda dejar manchas.

Os dejamos una lista de productos y sus aplicaciones:

Gommostrip: limpiador enérgico y no agresivo para todo tipo de flotadores en PVC, PU, Neopreno, Hypalon o Goma.

Ferrotone gel: eliminador de caracolillos y bacterias en la zona del casco o cercana al flotador.

Leather: limpiador de cuero para cojines, asientos u otras partes en cuero natural o artificial.

Muffa Net: limpiador específico para los hongos o el moho.

Gommowax: cera que nutre, abrillanta y protege los flotadores de las semirrígidas, neumáticas o zodiac.
